The electronics department advises the measuring and control technology of the test benches. This includes the adaptation of sensors, construction and calibration of measuring chains, signal processing as well as measured-value acquisition.
In special cases the electronics department develops its own measurement setups. This is necessary if no suitable measuring instruments are available in the market for special measuring tasks.
In cooperation with the vehicle electric department the electronics department takes care for external driving tests regarding cold-climate, height as well as hot-climate testing and validation. These tests partly take place overseas. Thereunto test vehicles are equipped with most different sensors. The measurements range from simple pressure and temperature measurements over smoke and opacity measurement to noise and vibration analyses as well as recording of engine torques with measuring hubs. All measurements are recorded parallel to the control unit data and noted in a measurement file.
In this way we ensure the optimal engine setup for most different climatic conditions.
In the context of quality assurance the electronic department is responsible for the maintenance of the entire measuring equipment as well as internal and external calibrations.
